34 checks

Each check has a written rule and fixed thresholds, set before the store was read. The four pricing checks show counts only. Every result is dated; inferences and manual observations say so.

Punch list

Now

2 items
  1. The fee product the customizer adds to carts is open to search engines and appears in storefront search. Fix kit · CD-06
  2. The customizer button a guest sees builds its login link with two question marks, so the return path is lost. Fix kit · CU-01

Before cutover

5 items
  1. 307 of the 631 old URLs sit under /shop, which Shopify's own redirects cannot answer; they need a layer in front of the store. Fix kit · MG-03, MG-04
  2. Both home pages carry the same title and description, so search engines see two copies of one page. Fix kit · MG-05
  3. Zero of the 47 old-site pages read link to the store. Fix kit · MG-06
  4. The store carries no Google tag, and three measurement IDs from the old site are not on it yet. Fix kit · ME-01, ME-02
  5. Ten of 39 sampled product descriptions for search stop mid-sentence, and the home page's social preview image is in a format most networks do not show. Fix kit · MG-08, MG-12

Next

6 items
  1. Thirteen euro prices sit far from the dollar price, and ten products mix converted and hand-set euro prices. Fix kit · PR-02, PR-03
  2. Ten matched products are priced differently on the two sites. Fix kit · PR-04
  3. Only 26 of 309 products have a real product type, and 664 variants have no SKU. Fix kit · CD-01, CD-02, CD-03
  4. Zero of 130 sampled images have alt text, and 39 collection handles or titles need tidying. Fix kit · CD-05, CD-07
  5. The logo customizer reports no events, so its use cannot be counted. Fix kit · ME-03
  6. The customization page is hard to find from search, the customizer runs on a development route, and the theme patches the extension in one place. Fix kit · CU-02, CU-03, CU-04

Three fix kits

A · B · C
Kit A

Redirects

A crosswalk that sends every old URL to its new home, a redirect file for Cloudflare Pages, Shopify's import file, a Worker for the old /shop paths, a verifier and a cutover runbook.

Tested: unit tests for the matching rules, the guards and the Worker; the verifier against the demo host.

Open kit A
Kit B

Measurement

A measurement plan, a theme script that counts the logo customizer in eight events, a custom pixel for GA4, and a fix for the guest login link.

Tested: unit tests against a stand-in for the customizer. Nothing is installed on your store.

Open kit B
Kit C

Catalog

Work lists for the products that cannot be bought, the market table, a product-type import file, collection clean-up, alt text proposals and a new-product checklist.

Tested: every list matches the count its check reports.

What was not looked at

  • Only public pages, read at about one request a second. No login, account, cart, checkout or form, and no request to the customizer's service.
  • Product-page checks used every eighth product, 39 of 309.
  • Only two markets were viewed, the United States and France. Other countries may differ.
  • Not observed: the Shopify admin, stock quantities, orders, checkout, customer accounts, the customizer after login, Search Console, GA4 data, page-speed scores, and whether Google has indexed either host.
  • Stock and prices change daily. Every figure carries the date it was observed, 13 October.
